The Christmas Jug Band
Saturday Dec 20th Sunday Dec 21st
Mill Valley Masonic
19 Corte Madera ave Mill Valley

Saturday Doors @ 8:00 Show @ 8:30
Sunday Doors 7:30 Show 8:00
A Murphy and Famous4
Production

"It's almost that time of year again and the Christmas Jug Band threatens to darken the door of The Masonic Hall in Mill Valley for a repeat performance this year. This irreverent crewe of stalwart purveyors of the jugabilly mystique is a seasonal assemblage of misfits of Commander Cody alumni and others from various notable Bay Area musical aggregations. What got started from a Wild Turkey-inspired momentary lapse of sanity is now, four albums and 30 years of fruitcakes later, an unconventional holiday tradition of highly skewed merriment. One never knows exactly what form this 100% acoustic folk-skiffle-swing jug band will take from one season to the next, but those who attend will get a full dose of tongue-in-cheek holiday highjinks."

Saturday’s show features special guest Mike Duke:
Duke has been a part of the inner-fabric of the Marin music scene since the early ‘80s, playing piano and singing at New George’s in San Rafael, the Sweetwater in Mill Valley, and writing hit songs for Huey Lewis and the News. His first hit was Hope You Love Me Like You Say You Do followed by Doing It All For My Baby released in 1986 on the News’ album Fore!. Today, Duke is one of the managers at the Rancho Nicasio bar and restaurant in Nacasio. He runs its general store, plays piano and sings in the Rancho All-Stars house band. He’s also the Rancho’s resident music expert.

Sunday special guest is Dan Hicks:
"So few truly original figures exist in pop music that Dan Hicks should be a national treasure." San Francisco Chronicle
Singer-songwriter Dan Hicks is truly an American original. Since the early 1960s, Hicks has deftly blended elements of Swing, Jazz, Folk and Country music to create the appealing sound he sometimes calls "Folk Jazz". The lyrics of his songs range from the simply sublime to the sublimely ridiculous, all presented with his uniquely skewed and inscrutable touch. Dan's irresistible sense of rhythm, hip lyrical styling, laid-back vocalizing, and infamous on-stage wit will make most who listen fans for life. He's a snappy dresser, too.

A modular revue punctuated by up-to-the-minute News Briefs, this show has a flexible small cast size, and can be adapted to play anytime, anywhere. Its best audiences are from young adults to older, who like fast-paced comedy with a little edge, melody, and rhythm.
